GP REGISTRARS / MEDICAL STUDENTS

Bramhall Health Centre is a teaching practice. We have qualified doctors gaining experience in general practice. We also have students from Manchester University and other medical schools with us for short periods. With the patient's consent they may consult with the partners and learn about general practice.

HEALTH CARE TEAM

Practice Manager

Mrs Gillian Evans is the practice manager and she is responsible for the administration of the practice. She would be happy to hear any comments or suggestions that you may have concerning services offered by the practice.

Reception Staff

Our team of receptionists helps to keep the practice running smoothly.

They are there to assist you in making emergency and routine appointments to see your doctor, undertake repeat prescriptions and deal with any queries you may have. They are trained to do a difficult and demanding job, and are there to help you.

Secretaries And Admin Staff

The secretaries and admin staff help with the smooth running of the surgery with regard to hospital referrals etc.

Practice Nurses

We have a group of experienced practice nurses working within the practice in the treatment room. An appointment can be made via the receptionists. The practice nurses are available to give advice and carry out immunisations and blood tests requested by the GPs they also carry out lood pressure checks, cervical smears and health checks for newly registered patients. The practice nurse help run the following review clinics: diabetes, blood pressure, asthma and coronary heart diseae screening clinics.

Please remember that the treatment room is not an A&E (Accident and Emergency department) and appointments need to be made to see the practice nurse or healthcare assistant.

The nearest A&E department is based at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport (0161) 483 1010.

Please note: for all dressings and change of dressings, ear syringing, vitamin B12 injections and removal of sutures, contact the dressings clinic on 439 7963.

Blood Tests

Please note that the nurses only undertake blood tests that are requested by GPs and by the practice nurses. Hospital doctors are responsible for organising their own blood test requests through the hospital and not through the practice.

Healthcare Assistant

We have a healthcare assistant working alongside the practice nurses. She carries out phlebotomy (taking blood), blood pressure checks and screening of new patients. An appointment can be made via our receptionists.

District Nurses

The district nurses provide nursing care for patients aged 16 and over who are housebound. Each patient's needs are assessed and their care/treatment is planned accordingly, with practical advice offered. The district nursing team includes sisters, staff nurses and auxiliary nurses. The district nurses are based at Bramhall Health Centre and should be contacted by telephone on 440 9682.

Health Visitors

The health visitors are based at Bramhall Health Centre to give advice on health care particularly for mothers, children and the elderly. They should be contacted by telephoning 439 7693.

Midwives
